Sacred Heart primary school summer fayre

On Saturday 29th June, Olé attended Sacred Heart Primary School's 2024 summer fayre in Whetstone. We were lucky enough to have brilliant weather, and the afternoon was enjoyed by all! Prizes were offered for colouring in the flag of a Spanish-speaking country, with children being offered a choice of countries outside of Spain, such as Argentina, Peru and Costa Rica, amongst others. For an extra challenge, the names of the necessary colours were only in Spanish! The children also enjoyed the opportunity to have the Spanish flag painted onto their arms... although these quickly washed off in one of the many water fights! The afternoon was enjoyed by all involved and it was fantastic to see so many people, old and new to Olé.

Along with Daniel, the teacher, also helping out were volunteers Marina and Ellen, but current Olé Spanish students.

Marina has just finished her A-levels at Woodhouse College whilst Ellen is in year 12 at Dame Alice Owen's School. The experience was an excellent opportunity to develop skills in communication and working with children; additionally, as both have previously assisted with after-school classes at Sacred Heart, they were able to recognise some of the children they had already worked with. We enjoyed the opportunity to see them again and how far they've progressed with their Spanish!
